INTRO.

Citizenship is a relationship between an individual and a state to which the
individual owes allegiance and in turn is entitled to its protection.
Citizenship implies the status of freedom with accompanying responsibilities.
Citizens have certain rights, duties, and responsibilities that are denied or only
partially extended to aliens and other noncitizens residing in a country.
In general, full political rights, including the right to vote and to hold
public office, are predicated upon citizenship.

Read the following text and answer the question.

MOTHER TERESA.  Mother Teresa was born in Albania in 1910 and, her real name
was Agne Gonxhe Bojaxhiu.  When she was 18, She entered the order of the Sisters
of Loreto in Ireland as a missionary. She learned English there.  After this, Mother
Teresa arrived in India in 1929 and became a nun two years later when She
took her final religious vows in 1937.   She took the name “Teresa” in honor
of Saint Teresa of Lisieux.

On her arrival in India, she began to work as an English teacher at a High School.
As a result of God´s call, she left the convent in 1950, and started to help sick and poor
people from the streets.  She received medical training and education in Paris. In 1950
she became a citizen of India, and she started her new religious order called “the
Missionaries of Charity”.  So after two years, she opened the house for the dying and
in 1957 she started to work with lepers.  Mother Teresa saw the face of God in
every person, no matter their skin color, religion, language, or faults.
For her humanitarian work, she won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. She finally
died in Calcutta, India in 1997 when She was 87 years old.

MARTIN LUTHER KING.  Martin was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929.
He believed all had the right to freedom and equality. His leadership was
fundamental to that movement’s success in ending the legal segregation of
African Americans in the South and other parts of the United States.
Martin Luther King didn’t believe in violence. He worked and studied hard in
school.  His goal was to make the world a better place to live. While he was
at college, Martin studied about a man named Gandhi. When Dr. King became
the pastor, he became active in civil rights. In 1963, over 250,000 people marched
in Washington, D.C. where Dr. King gave his most famous speech, “I Have a
Dream.” On the morning of April 4, 1968, Martin Luther King was assassinated

and spiritual leader. He is honoured in India as Father of the Nation. . Gandhi was born
in Gujarat, Western India, in 1869. He grew up surrounded by religious traditions
of compassion, vegetarianism, and tolerance for all people. He got married at the
age of 13.
When he was 19, he went to London to study law. He returned to India to practice as a
lawyer but was hampered by British officials, so he accepted a job in South Africa where
He faced discrimination wherever he went. He was treated as a third-class citizen by
white people. He returned to India in 1915.  Between 1916 and 1945, Gandhi
campaigned to set India free from British rule. He started by leading his
peaceful resistance and protest against British taxes and landlords, and
walked across India encouraging non-cooperation with the British.
He was arrested and imprisoned for creating unrest.
Gandhi's fame spread all over the nation.
He was assassinated in 1948. Two years later, India became an independent republic.
His non-violent protests led to independence for India from the British. His beliefs and
actions have inspired civil rights movements across the globe. He is an icon of world
peace.
